Memories of Amsterdam

Memories of Amsterdam — oil painting on linen canvas painted in memory of a trip to the fabulous city of Amsterdam, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. In the central part of the city, consisting of beautiful houses, stone streets and canals, you find yourself in a real 17th century! This is just a city — a museum that lives in the present and carefully preserves its medieval appearance. The trip left incredibly pleasant memories, and in memory of this atmosphere of immersion in past centuries, this picture was created. Handmade oil painting.

Memories of Amsterdam are first of all the Rijksmuseum, the Diamond Museum, and then acquaintance with the art of Van Gogh, walking along the streets, bridges and embankments and visiting beer tasting. In general, we managed to visit Madame Tussaud’s museum in Amsterdam, the 9-street area and many other interesting places. The Rijksmuseum is one of the most famous museums in the world and the main state museum in Amsterdam. It was opened in 1885, today its permanent exhibition includes more than 8,000 exhibits, and about a million in the funds. Here you can get acquainted with the works of art of the Netherlands, from the Middle Ages to the present, as well as some Asian collections. The museum presents paintings, sculptures, objects found during excavations, as well as items made of precious metals, musical instruments and ship models.
The Diamond Museum in Amsterdam was opened on the initiative and with the support of the jewelry company Coster Diamonds, which is known for its cutting-edge technology in stone processing. Here you can not only see the exposition, which presents many types of diamonds, but also watch an informational film (in English or Dutch) and, most interestingly, visit the factory and see the production of diamonds live. Also in the museum there are unusual exhibits: for example, an inlaid tennis racket and a copy of Van Gogh’s painting «Starry Night» with diamonds.
The Van Gogh Museum is the second most visited in the Netherlands, it houses the most extensive collection of works by the famous artist, as well as his contemporaries: Gauguin, Monet, Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec and others. The museum is also known for the fact that more than once paintings were stolen from it, but they always managed to be returned. Here you can see more than 200 paintings by Van Gogh, as well as more than 400 of his drawings and many letters.
Albert Cuyp Market is not included in the list of the most famous attractions in Amsterdam, but it is worth a visit in order to better feel the spirit of the city and replenish your memories of Amsterdam. This is an international market where you can at least casually get acquainted with the culture of different countries, walk in the smell of spices and marvel at the national costumes of sellers. It is from here that you can bring souvenirs to your family and friends that are unlikely to be found anywhere else in the city. However, the market is not only pavilions. There are shops, cafes, and even a small museum here.
